We on the Right are in trouble
For evidence the once-cowed
working classes are newly emboldened, look at today’s headlines. The right wing of the Democratic Party, with whom we Republicans often work especially on economic and military issues, is so concerned with the rise of a “real Democrat” that it is even considering installing Republican Michael Bloomberg at the top of the ticket, perhaps forcing the issue at a brokered convention. Other right-of-center Democratic candidates have their own issues. Joe Biden is in a downward spiral after poor finishes in Iowa (4th place) and New Hampshire (5th place) along with a series of meandering gaffes and rambling blunders. Amy Klobuchar had a decent night in finishing third in New Hampshire, but merely overcame already low expectations. And Pete Buttigieg, while finishing in second place for the second time, did so in yet another predominantly white state. There is a real concern with his low poll numbers with people of color. With South Carolina looming, and his polling at around 1 percent among Blacks and Hispanics, Mayor Pete from little South Bend, Indiana is looking to shake things up with plastic surgery and a new identity. I think we Republicans should be very worried about the ascendance of a Democratic Socialist in the mold of FDR or LBJ. Once working class people start having an actual place at the table as they did 40 years ago, the wealthy and corporations will be marginalized like we were during the Eisenhower administration, when the top tax rate was 90 percent, and unions were running the show.
