Tax Cuts

Makers Not Takers

Senator Sky Damon thinks that President Trump and the Republicans were right in supporting huge tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy. The Senator would continue cutting taxes for these most important Americans and thinks they shouldn't have to worry about taxes at all. The drop in revenue will more be more than made up for with changes to the lowest tax bracket [see below] and an ingenious proposal to shift the tax burden to foreigners. However, the Senator also recognizes that this tax cut gives the appearance that Republicans don't care about the middle class and the poor.

Therefore, the Senator proposes raising the minimum wage from the already generous $7.25 an hour to $9.25—an hour! This is a whopping nine dollar increase from the 1938 minimum wage of $.25. The middle class and the poor should sit up at attention after this generous proposal.

Then, to help our struggling employers, two dollars of this increase would be given back to corporations and other business owners to help defray the expense of the increased salary burden. The lowest tax bracket would also be increased from 15 percent to 25 percent to help pay for these changes and help keep the deficit to managable levels. This is compassionate conservatism we can believe in.
